A certain "ex" of mine requested protective custody (as the ex of a lawyer that was pretty well known for good work among several members of the general population, coupled with the shit he did), it made sense. Or it seemed to to him. The pros outweighed the cons. Isolation, to me, can constitute cruel and unusal punishment and not even something I'd wish on him. If you lock a man (or woman) up like an animal for 23 hours, you're going to unleash an animal onto society upon release. There has to be a better way. Just my thoughts
