A Little Bit Of Paint
I’m not an art critic. I know nothing about art. So I usually keep my opinions to myself. Well, that and my husband’s an artist, so my opinions are likely going to be somewhat biased.
That said, I tend to like art that makes me think. I can see a pretty picture anywhere, but something that actually makes me think is a rare treat. The piece pictured above does that for me.
My husband completed it a couple of days ago and I soon found it on my living room wall. And my mind immediately started turning.
It’s called Modern Beast. We haven’t discussed the piece at any length yet, but to me, it speaks volumes about the current state of the world. Or at least how I view it.
We seem to be a society in search of something, anything to hold onto. It’s like we’ve lost our way. Those of us who are older, or many of us, long for a time that made sense to us. Suddenly, it seems, everything about us, our values, our speech, our movies, music, and TV are all wrong.
For young people, I would guess, although I can’t speak for them, I imagine it’s much the same. Except they’re trying to make sense of what seems to be a crumbling universe and their place in it. What made sense 20 years ago, all the stuff we told them, doesn’t make sense anymore. So, I suppose…
