Ancient Home and Away is the only kind that matters in my book. It was sooooo good from its debut in 1988 until about 1994. It started going downhill when the original Pippa left and was replaced by who will always be known as "Not Pippa.". Later, it just seemed to get to slick, too Hollywood, if that makes sense
The charm.of the show was always that it wasn't an American soap, but rather featured relateable, normal looking characters with human struggles. Now, I don't know what it is.

Yes, the Will and his dad scene was awesome. Say what you will about Will and his behaviour etc now, but THAT was some dn good acting!
