This encounter was simply one of many, many encounters I've had with people of all kinds throughout my life. It hit me the way it did, I think because of the current situation in the Ukraine.

That said, before you make assumptions about how I'd react to any race, colour or creed of person, you really should know who you're making those assumptions about.

I'm multiracial. Black women and babies are, very literally, my sisters, my cousins, my aunts, my nieces. My father, grandparents, siblings, nephews, etc. were, had or are Black babies. A cursory look at my profile and my work makes that pretty clear. So let's not get it twisted.

I meet and talk to all sorts of people and have been touched by many. Some I write about, some I don't or haven't yet.
