Banning books is tantamount to banning thought. You're in a high school. The books are age appropriate. Nobody's "catching the gay" from a book. As a mixed race woman who grew up in the 70s and 80s without a hint of representation in the media anywhere, god, I wish there'd been a book. There wasn't, I read all the damn books in my school and town library.

The truth is, its 2024, gay people exist, trans people exist. It's a fact on life like any other. There are going to be books that express that and as long as the material is appropriate age-wise, that literature should be freely available to the students. The school system serves all children. ALL. I repeat ALL CHILDREN. If a student isn't interested in a particular subject, they can skip it. This really has to stop. We're cheating our next generation out of critical thinking.
