Beautiful Stranger

As I stand before the mirror,

The reflection I see

Is not my own,

But that of a beautiful stranger,

Foreign,

Yet intimately familiar,

The greatest of fictions

Inhabiting my shell,

She goes by many names,

wife, mother, daughter,

employee and friend,

But the name she’s long since

left behind is

Me.
