Been there. It often just takes less energy to give in than to fight. Dealing with abuse and the constant emotional and physical toll it takes is exhausing in way way nothing else I've ever experienced is. When I was in the midst of it, I honestly just didn't have the energy to put up a fuss. It was often just that simple.
