Both, I'd say. I'll be 52 in July. 40 seems so young to me now. I look much younger. In fact, my sons (33, 30 and 28) are routinely mistaken for my brothers. I don't do much, I use coconut oil as moisturizer on my face, that's it. Other than that, it's just a genetic accident.
Humble brag aside, getting older is tough on women. Society has measured our worth for ages on how we look. Young and thin is good, the other, not so much, that's the message we've always got. heck, we;re still firing newscasters for having the audacity to be female and not 30. it happened just last year here in Canada. a well known news anchor was fired after letting her hair go grey.
It's scary. We know it's going to happen eventually. We understand it intellectually, that we're not always going to be young. The problem is we're not sure what that means for our place in the world because we've only been told one thing.
It will get better. And there's nothing wrong with her taking care of herself, that's a good thing.
