Exactly. Offers are one thing. I've offered advice and still do when it's warranted and for someone I care about. But to ask or worse, assume I'm going to give away free professional advice just because....yeah, no.

Quick story to illustrate. One of my aunts, now deceased, called and asked me for free advice years ago. This is the same aunt who didn't like me much and told everyone in the family that she'd done a "full fledged" investigation (as opposed to, what, half fledged?) and determined that I did not, in fact attend law school or become a lawyer. HA!

So she has the audacity to call after another aunt passed away because the remaining siblings were all fighting about a painting the aunt had. She actually expected I'd help her for free. HA!
