It's a fictionalized account of the life of Paris O'Ree, a SC slave who bravely ran away at 15 to join the British in the Revolutionary War. I hesitated to suggest the book because I wrote it, but I do actually think you'd enjoy it.
Thank you for the lists and even more for your contributions, not only to the world, but to my mother, who was almost 80 when you were first elected. She cried like a baby, never thinking she'd live to see the day that someone who looked like her, a Black person would ever be president of the US.
You gave an old lady who grew up poor, marginalized and Black during the Great Depression and WWII hope that the world was becoming a better, more fair place.
Seems we've gone backwards since then.
