First thing, using a confusingly similar name to a legit publisher....red flag. Saying "we're not a vanity publisher," second red flag. Asking for money up front, third red flag. Think about it, if they have your $3K, what earthly incentive do they have to promote anything? None. They have your money.

There are all sorts of unscrupulous outfits out there that prey on the dreams of authors, artists, etc.

I'm not sure why you think an agent wouldn't tough you. Have you tried? If not, what have you got to lose?
