Girl, do not get me started! Oh, wait, you did. I AM a a parent. I raised 3 human males. They're all Millennials, which I thought were the worst, but I was wrong. They're 34, almost 32 and 29. By the middle of next month, I'll have 3 boys in their 30s.

This entitlement started with their generation, in the 90s. Somehow, parenting shifted and there was a movement toward self-esteem at all costs. Schools stopped issuing failing grades, kids were pushed through, everybody won first prize....on and on. And that carried through beyond age 18. We created a generation of entitled kids that are now raising entitled kids. Well, not "we," you had no hand in it, obviously, but you get the idea. We tried to overcompensate for the latch-key, shake it off, pay your money, take your chances childhoods we had, and we made a damn mess.

I'd apologize for my part in it, but I didn't raise my kids like that. I went old school and they're all the better for it.
