Guinness, I Think I’ll Leave It
Okay, so the picture I chose isn’t of me at the Guinness Factory in Dublin, or of a pint of Guinness. I did visit there. I did the tour and the tasting.
I find this picture funnier, and it’s one of those days when I need a laugh. If the crude hilarity of the name of this pub doesn’t make you giggle, well, sorry, not sorry.
But, again, as usual, I digress. Keeley Schroder’s prompt #13 begs the question:
Guinness… Love it or leave it?
It’s not even a close call for me. I’ll leave it.
Now don’t get me wrong, the factory tour was interesting. The Gravity Bar is stunning and it was awesome to enjoy a pint while overlooking the entire city. And Guinness does taste better in Ireland.
But it still tastes like a thick frothy mix of hops and molasses and I don’t know what else. It’s not an appealing taste or texture to me.
I like beer. A cold beer on a hot day after a long day at work or gardening is nice. It’s refreshing. A cold beer at a pub with an old pal is enjoyable. But I don’t like to drink things that feel like I have to choke them down.
I like a nice light lager. That’s about it.
