How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?

Well, On The Website

Well, I’m in love again!

Those who follow me know that in mid-February, my husband and I adopted a puppy, a smart, energetic, Australian Shepard/Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix named Rudy.

And you also know that when we went to the farm to choose a pup, it wasn’t Rudy I went for. I had my eye on his brother. Rudy chose us. My husband fell on the ice and Rudy, who had until that time, been quite aloof, ran right for him. He licked him and comforted him and gave him all sorts of love. In that moment, he became our dog.

About 2 weeks after we’d adopted Rudy, we met a nice couple in the park. They were walking their puppy. We were walking Rudy. They asked where we’d gotten him. We told them. It turned out they had gotten theirs at the same farm. They had Rudy’s brother, the one I originally had planned to adopt. They named him Hank.

Rudy and Hank played together for over an hour. I’m not sure if dogs have any sense of family. But it felt like they knew they were brothers.

I wondered on subsequent trips to the park if we’d ever see Hank again. We didn’t.

Until yesterday. But it wasn’t the park. It was the Humane Society website. There he was, Rudy’s gorgeous brother, Hank, up for adoption.
