Hurt Feelings? So What, Eh?
This may surprise a lot of you but Canada is more than maple syrup, beavers and apologies. We are fucking hilarious! Granted, when it snows 5 months of the year, you have to have a sense of humour. Let’s be honest, chuckles and sex get us through the long cold winters. Have you ever had school cancelled because it was -40? No? Okay, then shut up, cuz you don’t know our pain.
Seriously though, some of the most brilliant minds of comedy were born and bred right here in the True North Strong and Free. Don’t believe me, let me drop some names for you; Jim Carrey, Eugene Levy, John Candy, Russel Peters, Dan Ackroyd, Will Arnett, Mike Myers, the entire cast of The Kids in the Hall. We are a hilarious people and you’re welcome. I could go on and on because there are literally dozens of funny people that came up right here. Do you think the recently late, and great Norm MacDonald just showed up randomly on SNL…no, honey, that boy was born, raised and honed his crazy brilliance right here in Canada. I could go on for days, but I have this Tim Horton’s coffee over here that’s going cold.
But we’re an understated people. We don’t like to brag. We’re not the types to call attention to ourselves. We let our talent speak for us and we kick ass. But that’s not the point.
