I absolutely take off my shoes and I expect visitors in my home to do the same. I don't like sand and dirt tracked in from outdoors, especially this time of year. I am a bit of a clean freak and have some anxiety surrounding that, so yeah.. That said, if someone prefers not to take their shoes off when they visit, I'm not going to flip out or say anything, I just suck it up and sweep and mop after.

But, I don't go barefoot at home. I have slippers in the winter and flip flops just for the house in the summer. I don't like the cold floors, my dog is constantly chewing things and I find fragments of bones or whatever on the floor. I don't want to find those with my feet. :)
