I actually joined Vocal before I joined Medium. I prefer Medium for every day writing, but I like Vocal for the challenges. I've won 2 and have entered more.

You're right, the curators do have thier favourites on Vocal. I was one for a while. Then I wasn't. It seems they've moved on. But all in all, I still like it okay.
