I am mixed, but I look very white. I do not choose to identify as either. I'm mixed, that's it, that's all. Society sees me as white and I am therefore afforded those privleges. My siblings, who are darker skinned than I am, are not. Honestly, it's only when someone is aware that I'm mixed race that I ever encounter any form of racisim at all (that's directed at me, that is), so I completely get what you're saying .
