I came 20 years after you. I had a TV in my room. The time I spent with my mother consisted of watching soap operas and the news. That said, I hung out with my dad all the time when he wasn't working. I do think technology has taken some of that, but what I think it took more was the outdoor play we used to enjoy.
Fast forward to the 90s and 2000s when my kids were children and we had what I called "Family Night" every Friday. We'd watch the shows the kids liked, Boy Meets World, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, ect, have snacks and treats and then play music and dance around like fools. We ddin't often eat at the table together because I worked a lot, but at least we had Fridays and as grown men, they still remember it.
