I don't have the time to explain what's wrong with your logic in detail, so I'll try to sum it up.

As a former lawyer, big deal that there are anti-discrimination laws. That's nice but have you any idea how easy it is to skirt them and how difficult it is to prove discrimination? It's not like anyone who wants to discriminate is saying, "Hey man, sorry I can't give you the job because you're Black." The assumption that these laws somehow "fix" everything and level the playing field is, at best misguided and naive.

DEI programs in no way create the impression BIPOC people are unqualified any more than programs that actively say they welcome veterans to apply. Nobody would assume veterans were unqualified by virtue of an initiative to recruit and/or hire them (and I have seen this programs, though admittedly not recently).

I'm trying not to be rude here, but your logic is circular and demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding of history, racism and how the world actually works. Your theory sounds really appealing on the surface, in a perfect world, but that's not the world we live in. We're stuck with the world we've got.
