I don't. I'm Canadian. Our 4th is the 1st. Still don't care much to be honest. Fireworks scare doggies. And given my heritage, it's tough to celebrate certain things. I won't disrespect you or your country today. There are many great things about the US.

But I will say I didn't celebrate Canada's birthday a few days back. Not when we're still digging up the bones of Aboriginal children who were stolen from their homes in the name of government-sponsored "civilization." Thousands to date. Not when my cousins are still living on reservations without clean drinking water in a supposedly first world country. Not when my grandfather and great-grandfather were used as cannon-fodder in WWI with barely a word of acknowledgement. Not when inflation has driven people out of their homes, and made them hungry and little to nothing is being done.

But hey, spend a boatload of money blowing shit up. That's a great use of our nation's or our city's resources.

Sorry for the rant. Happy 4th. And here's to a better year coming.
