I Found A Taste Of Home
I’ve missed the east coast of Canada since I moved right smack dab into the centre of the country. I miss the ocean. I miss the vibe. And I miss the food.
I miss fresh scallops and tuna steaks. I miss fresh mussels and lobster. I miss digging for clams. I miss my fresh seafood. You can’t get fresh seafood here, aside from Trout, Pickrel and some sort of non-specific white fish. Well, maybe a bass, but good luck.
I won’t lie, as spring set in, well, not really spring, more like early summer, I’ve been feeling down. Part of it is just depression rearing its nasty little head. And part of it is homesickness. Six years without the ocean, without the smell of the familiar, is too much.
We’re working on getting back. But that takes time and money. And let’s face it, money is tight for all of us right now. So, we sit, here, until the right place at the right price presents itself.
Until then, I do what makes me happy. I write. I take Rudy out for walks. And I spend time in nature.
Today, I took Rudy on a hike in the woods just outside of town. It’s a great spot with a cool creek running through it. Or maybe it’s a brook, I have no idea, all I know is there’s tons of rushing water and I’m pretty sure there are tons of trout in there. And I’ll be going to…
