I get what you were trying to say. I'm mixed race but white presenting (I look whiter than white people). I was adopted by my paternal uncle and his family. They were all Black. I had no clue there was anything different. I didn't "see" their colour as a child. I saw Mommy, Daddy and big brother and me, that was all.

Then I turned 5 and went to school...they saw things differently. The adults, the parents mostly, and they made damn sure I saw it too. I say this only to make the point that I know what you meant and further that racism is TAUGHT. Children by nature are not racist, they get that shit from adults.
