I grew up with Madonna. I'm Gen X and I LOVED her for her unapologetic, fuck you, attitude. I preface my comments by saying it's her face, so I guess none of my business at the end of the day.

That said, seeing these pics breaks my heart. It looks like a woman so terrified of aging that she's turned herself into something barely recognizable. I wish she'd just forget that shit and come out as 64 year old Madonna with the same fuck you, here I am approach she always had.

But, on the other hand, as someone who was so famous and ruled the pop charts, I can't imagine how terrifying it must be to still feel vibrant and "in the game," but to watch all these kids taking her place. It feels like she's trying to compete with them, but she's doing it on their turf. She doesn't need to, her market, her relevance is our generation...time marches on

It's a sad commentary on society that she feels this need. I don't see male artists from our youth doing this. Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Rick Astley....all very much older than they were 35 years ago. Funny how that's okay.
