I Jumped On The Ko-Fi Bandwagon

Curiosity Killed The Cat, I Guess

Over the months I’ve been on Medium, I’ve seen article after article about Ko-Fi. and when I wasn’t seeing stories about it, I was seeing the little, “buy me a coffee” blurb at the end of other stories.

I steered clear of it for quite a while. There seemed to be a bit of controversy surrounding the whole “to Ko-Fi or not to Ko-Fi” question. Then I remembered, I LOVE controversy! I live for it. So, I figured I’d give it a try.

I’m not sure I’ll keep it. I’m not sure I really like it. I’m not sure it really fits me. It does feel kind of strange. On the one hand, it goes against pretty much everything I believe in. I’m not an asker. I wouldn’t likely ask for water if I were on fire. Well, maybe, if I were on literal fire.

It also feels like a lot of extra work. I mean, am I supposed to write stuff over there? Or post stuff? I’m confused. Or maybe I’m lazy.

But then, there’s the part of me that says, why not? Lots of others are doing it.

Maybe I’m overthinking it. I do that a lot.

But whatever, I’ll give it a fair try if even just for the ability to say I did. What are your thoughts on the Ko-Fi or not to Ko-Fi question? I’m curious. For those of you that use it, do you like it? And for those that don’t, why not?
