I live in a city in Canada where poverty is a big issue. Inflation was priced those living on the edge out of housing and don't get me started on food!
I've been too close to homeless for my liking, more than once. Yes, there are people who spend it on booze or drugs, fuck it, if my life sucked that hard, I'd drink my ass off too. Just to forget.
Sadly, society hasn't gotten ay kinder and the truth is the governments don't give a fuck. Poor people don't vote. They don't contribute to political campaigns. All the government does is try to make sure these people are out of the way.
I don't have much, but when I can give, I do. Hell, I've given when I haven't been able to. My son was homeless, he left our place because he wasn't following the rules. He grew up. I helped him out, he's a pipefitter and making a good living now. Sometimes people just need compassion and a little help.
