I meant specifically in relation to the allowed to be Black or allowed to be white....I'm very white presenting, but when people find out that I'm not white....well, there are those that never, ever let you forget it. And, on the Black side of my family....well, I'm that white girl. At least that, I kinda get. I don't walk this world like they do. I don't face the same concerns as far as my safety. Nobody follows me around stores. Cops don't stop me. I've never feared for the safety of any of my boys going out for an evening...ya know.

But as a kid, especially as a teenager, it was hard because as humans we tend to like to fit everything, including people into neat little boxes, and when you don't fit any box, it's hard to reconcile.
