I rekindled a relationship with my high school sweetheart and first love after 20 years apart. We dated when I was 16, again when I was 22 and then nothing for 20 years. We went on with our lives, married other people, had kids, etc. Then a chance meeting and it's been almost 9 years now and we're going strong.

For us, the problem was never love, it was timing and maturity. We were kids and we behaved childishly. But at 42 and 43 respectively, we were able to communicate and behave like adults, and that seemed to do the trick.
