I started on here exactly a year ago and have done quite well. Writing well really is only half the equation. There's something else you have the power to do, form meaningful connections with other writers.

Find other writers on here that you like and read their work. Engage with it, clap, leave thoughtful comments that show you've read and considered what they've written. Soon you'll find they're following you and reading and engaging with your work. Then they'll start tagging you in prompts, etc.

I actually just wrote a story on my first year on Medium and what I've learned. It was published today in Illumination, feel free to check it out, it gives some useful tips.

Oh, and speaking of Illumination, have you tried submitting to publications? I work with several but have found Illumination most welcoming for newer or less established writers.

Medium really is a community more than just a place to post your stuff. You get what you give, if that makes sense. Looking forward to reading more of your work. 😃
