I tend to agree with you. I'm mixed race, my father was Black and to put this at the feet of race solely, I think is erroneous. However, I do think the author has a point in one respect. As a young Black man that got a break, made huge money for the record labels, himself, etc. he was able to get away with a lot of things he never would have been able to get away with had he been Sean the truck driver. The power and privilege afforded him an opportunity to carry out his violent depravity over and over again without consequence. That's not really a race thing to my mind, but I can see how it could be on some level (you know, "bout time I'm finally getting some respect" type of thing). That said, at the end of the day, he did what he did, just like all the others you mentioned and he did it because that's who he is and he figured he'd get aways with it. If anything, aside from Diddy himself, is to blame, it's our insane culture of celebrity worship that makes people like him think they're above all laws, codes of morality and basic decency. I hope he rots in jail.
