I think there's a misconception out that that Americans are all rude and loud and that they speak in either a southern accent or a thick NY accent. You present as polite without either accent and they assume Canada.

As a Canadian, I find that amusing, eh (sorry, had to) becuase I've travelled extensively and the nicest, most polite people I've encountered have been invariably been Americans.
