I wish I were surprised by your experience. I'm not. The truth is, they want the appearance of diversity, as if it's some sort of badge, without letting go of racism inside the glass corridors.
I was once told by a major law firm that I worked for that I was their diversity hire. They wanted me, no joke, to do a series of ads and interviews about my life and how poor mixed race little me got to such heights. Ummm, no. You've seen my picture, if I'm your company's commitment to diversity....well, you see the problem.
