I worte a story about this, as a mother of 3 grown men who have told me, to my face, in no uncertain terms that I will never, NEVER be a grandmother.

And you know what? Good. I don't hate children. I'm sure if I had gradchildren that I'd love them. But it's not my choice. It's not my life.

My boys, now 32, 29, and 27 have made reasoned and conscious decisions based on their own beliefs, their own personalties and their own ideas of how they want their lives to be. Every single one of them have said they don't have the time, engery or desire. They like to spend their money and time doing and buying what they like.

So good. It's so much better to know it and own it. There are way too many unwanted children in this world and that's not fair on anyone. I applaud you for your honesty. You don't owe anyone children, not the world, not your parents, no one, but you do owe it to yourself to enjoy your life.

PS: No, my boys will not change their mind. Fuck, I get that all the time, the pity face and "oh, they're young, maybe they'll change their minds." Nope. And I'm good with it. I rasied 3 strong young men who know themselves and what they want. Can't do much better than that.
