If you're referring to Bill C-16, it actually didn't go that far. It added gender identity to the protected groups and added sections to the Criminal Code dealing with hate speech/incitement. Using the wrong pronoun will not result in a fine or jail. That being said, we did change some of the words in our national anthem.
I'll be anxiously waiting for the SCC's decision on Friday. I really don't want to have to write an obituary for comedy in Canada.
What really gets me is how the hell do these cancel people think they got thier right to scream and holler about everything? I'll tell you how, by the bravery of many people over the years who advocated for and stood up for opinions that went against the prevailing norms of the day. Where would we be if abolitionists, suffragettes, trade unionists, etc. were summarily cancelled and silenced for their "unpopular views"? man, you got me all riled up now, so I'll stop here for now.
