I'll never understand why the US seems to devalue teachers so much. I mean Canada is no mecca for educators, but we pay them a living wage at least. it's not great based on the hours they put in, but like I said, better than the US.

I guess common sense just isn't common anymore because it would seem to me that we'd want to pay those we entrust our children to, those who are responsible for shaping the young minds of the next generation, a decent wage. I've had a lot of teachers in my day, and I dealt with many more, having had 3 children go through the school system and a good teacher is worth his/her weight in gold.
