I'll take that bet! I spent the first 9 years of my life thinking my uncle was my father (although legally he did adopt me) and only found out the truth when his brother, my biological father, came for a visit. Oh, and add to that, that my father (both of them) were black and my Bio dad was having an affair with a married white woman ( huge scandal in small town Canada in 1971). Oh, then then, she up and died under mysterious circumstances (I've heard about 7 different stories, but no one seems to know the truth because, families, right) when I was 3 weeks old.

Fast forward to present day and it turns out there's more to the story and I don't know the half of it, but almost everyone who does know is dead and I'm left with DNA results that don't match the narrative I was given.

However, I'll give you "child with stepson," and the brothers thing.

I was lucky. Sure my family is messed up, but I was at least raised in a pretty decent home with a loving adoptive father and nobody was on drugs (hell they didn't even drink or smoke). I can't even imagine the things you must have endured as a kid! Loved your story. And you're right change is up to you, but it's not easy, generational trauma is tough. Much respect to you.
