I'm 52 and still get asked for ID. I mean, I dye my hair and I do look younger than I am, but not that young. Here in Canada, the legal drinking age is 19 and there's no way in hell I can be confused with a 19 year old (or anyone in their 20s or 30s, unless it's really, really, REALLY late 30s, like 39 and turning 40 tomorrow). It was flattering, not it's annoying and kinds feels like mocking. I'm completely with you on the "young lady" thing. I don't get that so much, I get "dear," or "sweetie,"both send me into an instant rage that I try hard to quash for the sake of the public.
