I'm a 50 years old woman with 3 adult sons. Everyone around me is getting grandchildren except me. All 3 of my boys have told me they don't want kids. Guess what? It may be a novel idea, maybe revolutionary even, but it's their lives, their decisions and, wait... there's more, it's not their job to live their lives to plase me! Children are indeed a blessing - if you want them. Know what else they are, a whole lot of work. I've seen what happnes to kids that arrive unwanted. I was one. It's not fun and yes, we know. It takes a great deal of maturity and insight to know that you either don't have the tools, or simply don't wish to devote/sacrifice the time, money, freedom, etc. involved in having and raising a child.

I applaud your resolve. It's not easy to stand firm in the face of family opposition. Live your life for you and the way you choose. Loved your story.
