I'm a mix of both. Like you, I was raised by a mother who didn't cry. Never saw her shed a tear over anyone or anything until 1997 and she called me in absolute hysterics over Princess Diana. She was very, "stiff upper lip, no use crying over spilled milk."

However, I'm very sensitive and soft hearted. I cry over all sorts of stuff, movies, songs, TV shows, the way my puppy is so cute in the right light, you name it, I'm a crying fool.

But when it comes to the big stuff, death, destruction, crisis, nothing. Dry as a bone. When everyone else is falling all over themselves in tears, there I am, nothing. I didn't cry at my father's funeral and I worshipped the ground he walked on. My entire family went on and on about my lack of tears for years, calling me heartless, etc.

I've stopped trying to figure myself out now. I figure I cry when things touch me, but when there's a situation, I'm more inclined to deal with it and not break down.
