I'm biracial, I look white, my hair is crazy thick and crazy curly, so I kinda get it. I grew up hating my hair. My own mother (I was adopted by a Black couple) lamented the fact that I didn't have "good hair." I longed to be like the white girls with their starlight, manageable hair. Hair that could fit into elastics, hair that didn't break every comb it met, you get what I mean.
Not any more! It took me over 40 years, but I LOVE my hair now. It's a testament to my heritage. It sets me apart and it's gorgeous.
Nappy hair is indeed beautiful!
