I'm mixed race (Black father, white mother) but was adopted into a Black family. What you say here is so true! My dad had a grade 4 education, yet he knew the only way for one generation to have and do better than the one before it is through education. Books were a part of my life from day 1. So were pencils, pens and crayons.
I didn't always listen. But I did eventually become a lawyer and raised my boys to value education as well.
