The Queen earned my respect because of a story my dad told me. When he was leaving for the Korean War, Princess Elizabeth as she was then came to inspect the troops. He was ordered to stand down by his commanding officer. The reason was she'd be uncomfortable shaking a Black hand. He refused. He stood in that line. She shook his hand and spoke a few words to him with no problem at all.
