Sometimes there is no choice but to put an elderly relative in care, but assisted living and a nursing home aren't the same thing.

I had no choice but to put my mother in a nursing home. We picked the "good home". I paid an arm a leg for to, to see that she got the very best of care. What she got was neglected, half starved and very, very sick. If I had it to do over, I'd find another option.

As to your grandmother, she's made her decision. Just because you disagree doesn't mean you're the one talking sense. Maybe she wants to talk some sense into you. Perhaps she could get more help in.

Taking away someone's independence is a HUGE step!

I'm only 51 and I can tell you this, I will die before I allow anyone to put me in a home! Not happening, not ever. I've seen too much.
