I'm sure she does. To my mind, she needs not regret it, she did the right thing.
As for her Masters in counselling, good for her, and so what? As an educator and a mother, you know as well as I do that people, especially children almost never show up as described in the textbooks. It takes real world experience and common sense to do stuff.
I hope it works out. But I worry she'll alienate your son by pushing too hard. YOU are the mother, she's the bio mom. She may have given him life, but you gave him a life, and a damn good one, if that makes sense.
