Isn't it! I remember my aunt Myrtle once telling me that she'd secured an apartment in Winnipeg, ages ago now. She'd gotten a job at the Women's' Hospital there, and gotten the place through correspondence and phone calls. Funny thing, when she showed up, the place was suddenly taken...hmmmmm My cousin, like my aunt, is a Black woman and arranged to renew her mortgage sight unseen...she walked into the bank and the staff member actually told her she "didn't sound Black." This is a 66 year old, educated woman with a PhD, what exactly did they expect her to sound like, "Yo, yo, y'all wanna gimme some bread for this here crib, fo shizel?" Jesus! I weep for humanity.
