I've also had my share of abuse, mainly on one article I wrote and it was generally from the types of profiles you described, "so called writers who haven't written anything and have a dozen or so followers." I haven't blocked anyone yet, but it's come close. If these morons want to read my stuff and comment thereby paying me, so be it. I actually said that to one of the trolls and HE blocked me, LOL, talk about the trash taking itself out!

All that said, your advice is probably the best course of action. Life is too short to waste time and energy on those types of people.
