I've always been good at the school stuff. From day 1 I was top of class. I graduated with a BA with Honours in Political Science and a Major in Psychology (with distinction). It wasn't even a degree the school offered. I could have an honours designation and a minor, but not a major...except I had all the requirements. I demanded it and got it.
I graduated with first class honours from law school while working full time.
And big deal. I'm proud, sure, but even better are the 3 wonderful, fully-functioning, kind, decent young men I raised by myself.
The best thing I heard was last week when my middle son (now 30) told me that he still loves and anticipates Christmas like a child because of how special I made the day for he and his brothers every year growing up. They never new we were poor and they were happy. To me, that's better than any degree ever!
