I've been waiting for this story and it did not disappoint. I think we do better as we know better. As younger people, we go through that idealized state of right and wrong, I think. Hell, I'm 53 and reading about the fact that food insecurity has gotten so bad in my province that 27 people have been diagnosed with scurvy (yeah, you read that right), kinda makes me want to go into a rich grocery conglomerate and steal a shit ton of oranges and start handing them out.
