I've written on both. My "beefs" with Vocal are well documented. I made money on the platform. A whopping $40 in reads over 2 years, but over $10 in challenge wins, placements and top stories. I think, including the challenges that aren't listed as winning credits on my page, I've won twice, got 1 second place and placed 5 other times and had close to 20 top stories.
Vocal used to be good. It's not now, as far as I'm concerned. There's blatant favoritism for a core group of writers who are in various Facebook groups with certain members of the executive. Their stock is in the toilet because the company and platform is poorly managed. I've written all about it.
It makes me sad because I loved Vocal. It could have been great, but all my suggestions were ignored (not just mine, others too). It's a platform in panic mode, trying to save itself. It could have easily done that by listening to creators in the first place. My prediction is this time next year, we'll be talking about Vocal in past tense.
