I'm in Canada, we treat our teachers pretty well. We at least pay them better than garbage collectors and require actual degrees in education (aside from substitutes who just need a BA). We're not perfect, but....

How did you become the most powerful nation in the world again? Seriously? We trust our children, the future generation to teachers. teachers who often spend more time with kids than their parernts.

They want warm bodies to keep the machine going and nothing more. Like you said, knowledge is power and we don't want anyone having that. I seriously weep for humanity.
